The grasslands are cold during the winter and hot during the summer and ranges around 25 to 75 centimeters a year for annual rainfall. Examples of vegetation here are the blazing stars and the golden rods. Plants like such help support herbivores like the wild turkey and the prairie chicken. The bison also lives in the grasslands and is going extinct because as we expand we take away their food source the vast fields and over work the soils with our farming eventually turning parts of it into barren land. Not to mention that during the civil war we almost completely wiped out the buffalo and bison population in North America.
